This recreational/moderate cycle tour travels through all the highlights of Southern Peru's wild desert coast.

 

Taste the typical seafood dishes of the coast, pass through the Wine and Pisco producing valleys of Lunahuana, visit the wildlife haven of the Ballestas Islands and view the mysterious Nazca Lines.

 

Enjoy the freedom of exploring lightly trafficked back-roads with the chance to get off the beaten track and experience local life firsthand.

 

The security of a dedicated support vehicle gives you the opportunity to take it all in at your own pace and to choose your level of challenge.

 

Cycling distance averages 70kms daily, with options for more on some days.

HIGHLIGHTS

  • Explore Lima, Peru's bustling capital city, including the pre-Inca ruins situated in the centre city.
  • Eat at La Rosa Nautica, Lima's premier seafood restaurant, and enjoy the ambience of the beachfront location.
  • Visit Lunahuana, one of Peru's main Pisco and Wine producing areas to learn about the production of Pisco and taste the local wines.
  • Explore the National Reserve of Paracas and the Ballestas Islands, a haven for all kinds of wildlife, including Pelicans, Sea Lions and Dolphins.
  • Visit the famous Nazca Lines, the desert mystery and take the opportunity to view them from the air in an over flight.
  • Take in the stunning scenery of desert dunes framed by the Pacific Ocean, with an average of 70km cycling on quiet roads each day.
  • End your journey in Arequipa, the white city, and take some time to explore the colonial architecture and the many excellent cafes and restaurants.
  • Explore outside the main tourist routes and get to experience firsthand the people and culture

START: Lima, Peru

  • Peru's capital city, home to 9 million people, almost a third of Peru's population. Miraflores and San Isidro are the well known seaside suburbs and the main tourist hub. The beaches around Lima are well known surfing spots and the specialty cuisine is, of course, seafood.

FINISH: Arequipa, Peru

  • "The White City", surrounded by Volcanoes and built with the distinctive white volcanic stone of the area. Arequipa has a population of around 1.2 million people, the second largest city after the capital Lima.
